Welcome to Term 2

Image
Good afternoon parents, My apologies for the delay in getting a post out this week...trying to find my new rhythm with winter sport starting up last weekend as well as getting used to being back at school after such a great time away! I know that many of you kicked off the term being involved in a variety of sports and activities...to those of you that volunteer to manage, coach, run water or do any of the myriad of other things that go into getting our young people out on the park...THANK YOU!  It is a huge commitment and many things could not happen without you...you're amazing! We would also like to say a massive thank you to you, our parent group for your support in getting the students ready for our camp...they were well organised and ready to roll.  We had a fantastic time away doing a variety of things that for many were very uncomfortable and challenging, myself included and we were so very proud of the feedback that we received from the instructors about the care and respe

Camp Reminders!

Good afternoon parents, A couple of quick reminders before we head off on camp bright and early Monday morning! The weather is looking great...cool mornings and nights with lovely days! Departure  - We will be leaving OLC promptly at 8am. Please make sure that you and your child are at school by 7.45am at the latest so that we can take attendance, load the bus, and pull out on time to avoid the arriving at school traffic...please factor in the nervous bathroom stop too! Packing List   - A copy has been placed in the Welcome section on your child's class One Note for them to refer to as they pack their bags over the coming days. Please make sure that your child brings their morning tea, a water bottle, hat and a small pencil case in their day pack as well as any kind of stuffy (teddy) they might want to bring. Don't forget their pillow, pillow case and sleeping bag. Please leave the extensive skin care routine safely at home - sunscreen will be perfect! Medication  - A reminder

Camp Reminders - Week 9

Good morning parents, Just a couple of reminders for you to think about before heading off on holidays. Year 6 Leadership Camp - Forest Edge Campsite, 133 Weller Road, Waroona Departure - We will be leaving OLC promptly at 8am. Please make sure that you and your child are at school by 7.45am at the latest so that we can take attendance, load the bus, and pull out on time to avoid the arriving at school traffic. Packing List - This was sent home with your child a couple of weeks ago now and is hopefully living on the fridge - if not, a copy has been placed in the Welcome section on your child's class One Note. As a number of our activities involve harnesses and helmets, please ask your child to think carefully about appropriate clothing - singlets, short shorts and extremely baggy clothing, whilst comfortable aren't the right way to go from a safety point of view. Please make sure that your child brings their morning tea, a water bottle, hat and a small pencil case in their day

Week 8 Update

Good afternoon, A quick one this week! We are so excited to finally have our Leavers Shirts...they look amazing and were certainly worth the wait! We have had a number of compliments from staff, parents and students alike...loving them! A huge thank you to the amazing students of 6DEL for their beautiful prayer assembly on Friday, the Year 4's were very grateful for the care and reverence that the students showed. I attended the First Eucharist mass this morning and it was lovely! How good is it that footy is back! We have started tipping competitions on both classes and we are all watching games closely, analysing performances. This is all in good natured fun! I am a little reluctant to to make any bets with the students on the back of the Eagles success but I am hopeful this will be their season! What's On This Week... Parent Teacher Meetings - A reminder that Friday 22nd March is a Pupil Free Day. All parents are warmly invited to make a book to discuss your child's pro

Week 7 Is Here!

Image
Good afternoon parents, Welcome to Week 7...I hope you are enjoying the weekend. A nice settled week coming our way which is a lovely thing to know, the students have settled well into the routines of the classroom and I am receiving lots of lovely feedback about how the students are conducting themselves around the school.  This is particularly evident in the way that the students are conducting themselves within their Ministry Groups...all of the staff involved in these have commented on how mature, enthusiastic and responsible the students are working these spaces which is so great to hear! We had a fantastic morning down in Kindy on Friday morning meeting our new buddies for the first time.  It was such a delight to watch the joy on the students faces, Kindy and Year Sixes alike...there were a few nervous little ones but it was so beautiful to see the care and attention that our students showed to bring out those smiles...my heart was exploding with pride! What's On This Week..

Week 6 Update

Image
Good morning parents, I hope you have enjoyed the long weekend...except for the weather it has been a welcome break from the busy start to the term.  Like many, I ventured up to Optus Stadium to watch Pink...she is amazing! Being there does make me long for footy season to start...not long to go now!  A huge congratulations to all Year 6 students for their efforts in the swimming carnival on Friday, for many this is the highlight of their year as they get to showcase their special skills but for others, this is a difficult day as these events don't play naturally to their strengths.  We were incredibly proud of everyone's willingness to have a go and the encouragement that I saw from all students was really wonderful to see!  I hope they all slept well on Friday night! Character Strength of the Week...Fairness... Fairness is treating people justly, not letting your personal feelings bias your decisions about others.  You want to give everyone a fair chance, and believe there sh

Leavers Shirts - Update 2

Image
Good morning parents, Thank you for your patience and understanding as we have worked to source a new option to replace our Leavers Shirts for 2024. We have made contact and confirmed with our supplier this morning that we are able to fill our original order in number and sizing options in a reverse colour scheme from our original which whilst different, is still within our school colour scheme and will look great.  We have made the necessary updates to the new design so that all student names are included, and our Year 6 family feels complete. With this new order, we are looking at a lead time to have our new shirts within two weeks ready for the students to wear. Can we ask that ALL leavers’ shirts are returned washed, ready to be donated by Tuesday 5 th March.  We will organise for these to be donated to a worthy cause. Students are to wear their normal teal and faction polos in the interim. Once again, we appreciate your support and patience! Kindest regards, Caitlin &
